Finding out you have fertility issues and dealing with the roller coaster that is assisted conception can be a really difficult time for couples and individuals, especially if a cycle fails or your pregnancy ends in the heartbreak of miscarriage.
Jacqueline Hurst is a BACP Senior Accredited counsellor and a member of BICA the infertility counselling association. She will work with you to help you consider your next steps, supporting you emotionally to help you get into the right mind-set to be able to contemplate your next steps.
For those that are tired and feel exhausted with their current treatment it may be time to consider other options: a new clinic, or other routes e.g donor egg/sperm, surrogacy or adoption. All these options need to be explored carefully with a couple. We have vast experience in all these areas:
- Jacqueline Hurst works closely with many of the top IVF clinics, aiming to combine the best of care with psychological and emotional support. The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) provides a comprehensive list of clinics and success rates, but choosing the most appropriate clinic for your individual needs is not always easy. There may be advantages to staying with your current clinic, but sometimes a change of clinic may be more appropriate. We are here to help and support you in your decision making process.
- Implications Counselling – for clients who go down the donated gametes route (e.g. donor sperm, eggs or embryos) implications counselling is required before you start treatment at your chosen clinic, Jacqueline has worked with many couples and individuals on this journey.
- Letting go of one set of circumstances and a life long dream to come to terms with and then embrace a whole new situation, it goes without saying that all this can be daunting and extremely difficult – we are here to help.
- Some couples or individuals may have made a difficult decision to end their fertility journey and come to the point where they want to consider being childless. We are here to help whatever the situation may be.
